1.   standout artist in Berlin for Plakatstil movement: Lucian Bernhard
-first to move away from art nouveau 
-focus on single object poster, with bold minimal lettering
-Das Plakat (The Poster) as graphic design magazine in 1910
-created posters for the German war effort during first World War






2.   Ludwig Hohlwein (Plakatstil artist)
-designed for restaurants, cafes, and the clothing industry
   *more famous work was for Hermann Sherrer men's clothing line



-powerful composition balance, combined realism against flat bold color
-produced emotional posters for fundraising and propaganda purposes
